The Ministry of Science, ICT & Future Planning and KISTEP held the public hearing on the 2014 Government R&D Investments and Standards at COEX on April 9.

The public hearing was for free communication between the administrators and the scientific technology experts on R&D sites on ‘2014 Government R&D Investment Plan’. Beginning with opening speech of the chairman of KISTEP Lee Jun-seung and greeting of the vice-minister of Ministry of Science, ICT & Future Planning Lee Sang-mok, the public hearing consisted of the part 1 Panel Discussion and the part 2 Intensive Discussion.  

In the part 1, the panels were the representatives of the science and technology world such as academic-industrial combination and the press, and the top of the table was the chairman of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology Park Seong-hyeon. The second part was for discussion amongst the authorities, research institutes, and the general researchers on the 2014 Government Investment Plan on the top nine technology fields.  

<The Government R&D Investments and Standards> is that the Ministry of Science, ICT & Future Planning suggests the priorities of approximately KRW 1.7trillion of the next year’s government R&D budget and the investment plans by the fields on Aprils in accordance with the second clause of Article 12 of the Framework Act on Science and Technology. Each government department sets up and applies the next year’s R&D budget based on it, and the Ministry of Science, ICT & Future Planning allocates and adjusts the requests.
