Asian Research Policy symposium 2013

KISTEP has held ‘Asian Research Policy Symposium’ to activate the researches in policies of science and technology·innovation and international exchanges in the Centennial Memorial Hall of Korea University on August 30.
 
Asian Research Policy is an English academic journal launched in March 2010 by KISTEP to analyze in-depth the domestic/international policy of technology·innovation and the issues related to R&D Investment, and to propose the policy alternative. It is being published 2 times a year in March, and in September by focusing on the research of policy·methodology of science and technology, and the status & issues related to R&D investment and its evaluation etc.
 
In this 3rd symposium, the domestic/international eminent persons have participated to present with subject of ‘Asian Model of Innovation: Innovation and Creative Economy’.
 

 
In this event starting from the greetings of Yeom Jae-Ho, Professor of Korea University and ARP Editor-in-Chief, and the welcoming address of Park Gu-Sun, Vice president of KISTEP, the domestic/international eminent persons in innovative policy have participated.
 
Nicholas S. Vonortas, Professor of George-Washington University in America and joint Editor in chief of international journal, ‘Science and Public Policy’ which covers science and technology and public policies in innovative domain, has given the keynote speech with the subject of ‘Academic Entrepreneurship’.
 
Professor Vonortas has insisted “The policy of creative economy in Korea is focused on the employment and knowledge entrepreneurship. Occupying 3% of overall small business, Knowledge-based start-ups lead the technology and pursue the innovation, but not contribute directly to the creation of employment. However, the knowledge entrepreneurship plays a very important role since it leads the growth of the rest 97% of small business and help to create the employment.”
 
After this keynote speech, there were the presentations with the order of Lee Jung-Dong, Professor of Seoul University with ‘Asian model of innovation from the perspective of policy coherency and co-evolution mechanism’, OECD Michael Keenan Doctor with ‘The OECD-World Bank Innovation Policy Platform: Re-framing policy through learning and exchange’, Mohsin U. Khan Doctor of Zaheer Science Foundation with ‘Government interventions in promoting innovation driven economy in Asia focusing on India’.
 
In the afternoon, a special session related to ‘Innovation and economic policy in R&D, creativity’ has been performed and the announcement of winning entry in competition of excellent research papers in KISTEP progressed prior to the publishment of No.2 of Asian Research Policy in 2013.
