The factors which threaten the safety of our society such as AI, novel swine-origin influenza, radioactive contamination, large scale leakage of private information, and cyber crimes such as pharming and smishing are becoming more and more complicated and diversified, and the ripple effect is also growing. KISTEP selected and announced 10 promising technologies that would protect our society threatened by diverse factors like this.

The 10 promising technologies selected that will take the responsibilities for safety of our society include ▶ Bio-verification technology, ▶ Virtualization security technology, ▶Quantum information and communication technology, ▶ Big data based crime prediction technology, ▶ Micro flying surveillance robot, ▶ Situation recognition technology, ▶ Electronic nose, ▶ Food smart packaging technology, ▶ High speed diagnosis paper chip technology, and ▶ Green vaccine.

The study on 'Selection of KISTEP 10 Promising Future Technologies' is conducted from 2009 to create economic added value and at the same time to reduce social opportunity cost by analyzing and predicting major future technologies in diverse aspects and viewpoints.
 
In this year, 'Increase in Safety Risk' is selected as the key trend which is expected to have the biggest ripple effect in Korean society in the next 10 years and require urgent response, through analysis of on-line news key words, and 10 promising future technologies are selected in order to respond to the related issues.
