Hosting of a forum, 'The Way to a Nation with mature Creative Economy' and the 15th anniversary ceremony

KISTEP hosted a forum in commemoration of its 15th Anniversary under the topic of 'The Way to a Nation with Mature Creative Economy' at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry building on January 23.
 
This forum has been arranged in commemoration of the 15th anniversary of KISTEP that has grown to a specialized institute contributing to the entire process from planning of, budget allocation/coordination for, and performance evaluation on national level science and technology since it was established in 1999.
 
This event arranged to the effect that the second year of Creative Economy policy promotion should be a time of maturation through full-scale execution of the policy began with the congratulatory messages delivered by Changhee Kang, the Chairman of the National Assembly, who played the leading role for establishment of KISTEP when he was the first Minister of Science and Technology in 1999, and Hangsik Park, the Deputy Minister for Creative Economy Coordination of the MSIP.
 

 
After that, President Youngah Park gave a keynote lecture under the topic of 'Implementation Direction of Science and Technology Policies in Creative Economy Era'. In this place, President Park emphasized, "While the gap in the incomes of nations and individuals occurred in accordance with the accessibility of information and the processing abilities up to now, wealth inequality is now expected to occur in accordance with the level of creativity. The basic objective of the policy of Creative Economy is to reinforce our innovative abilities by forming a culture where creativity is respected and innovating scientific education. The results in science and technology attained through this should be utilized for invigoration of the economy by being shared and spread. 
 
After the keynote lecture, total 4 lecturers gave lectures under the topics of Innovation of Science and Technology, Creation and Fusion, and Fostering of Creative Persons with Talents. First, Seunghwan Kim, the Director of Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCPT) gave a presentation from an angle of an on-scene researcher on the importance of basic researches which are the seeds for promotion of Creative Economy, the traces of growth of and limitations in basic research including basic science in the short R&D history of Korea, and the desirable future development direction, under the topic of 'The basis of Creative Economy is basics.'
 
After that, Professor Hakhyun Nam of Kwangwoon University who had established a bio enterprise, I-sens, talked about his experiences from foundation of a school venture company to growth, and CTO Bumsub Kim who had established two IT venture companies, Drama and Company, and Venstre, vividly told a story about establishment of new venture companies.
 
The last lecturer, Youngjoon Kim, the president of Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, explained about a fostering system of creative talented scientists and engineers around 'Science and Technology Education with which Human Science is fused' in his lecture under the topic of 'Creative Economy: Eventually, the key is in the human.'
 
In the specialist panel discussion, Jaehyun Kim, the president of Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology, Professor Kyungchan Min of Yonsei University, Pilho Park, the president of Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, Hanoh Park, the president of Bioneer, Meenam Shin, the president of Fuel Cell Power, Inc., and Professor Wooil Lee of Seoul National University exchanged their opinions on the key tasks to be resolved in the aspects of economy, society, science, technology and culture for takeoff toward a nation with mature creative economy under the presidency of Kiljoo Moon, the former president of Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST).
 

 
After the forum, the 15th anniversary ceremony was held in presence of all the employees of KISTEP. In the ceremony, after the greetings of President Youngah Park focused on new visions and advancement strategy of the institute, awards were given to superior employees, academic achievers etc.
