KISTEP hosted the 5^th KISTEP Wednesday Forum with a theme of 'A new task of National Security Policy and its Countermeasure of Science & Technology' in the international conference room of KISTEP on May 14.  

This forum was proceeded with the theme presentation by Hyunik Hong, a senior researcher of Sejong Institute, and with the panel debate in which Sangbae Kim, a professor in Seoul National University, Choonkeun Lee, a STEPI Researcher, Namhun Cho, a Director of National Security Strategy Research Center at KIDA (Korea Institute for Defense Analysis), and Sungku Han, a director of S&T Policy and Planning of KISTEP, participated.  

Through the theme presentation, Hyunik Hong, a senior researcher, emphasized, "Traditionally, the national security has focused on the military matter, but after the termination of cold war, its concept has been expanded to the appearance of the concept of human security which includes economy, foods, energy, environment, human right and crime. Recently the necessity has been emphasized to be ready for the world risk society by paying attention upon the complex network of nations and anti-nationalists, and the establishment of multi, national, and regional governance and the resilience strategy, which actively react to this network by cultivating the powers such as organizing power, knowledge, economic wealth, energy, and communication are required."

Also, regarding the cyber terror by North Korea, which is becoming a greater threat, he proposed the priority of ▲ organizing a cyber tolerance unit & expanding specialists, ▲ establishing cyber security control tower, ▲ procuring the cyber defense ability which is able to do the counter attack, ▲ cyber Warrior Training & Study Method Structure Maintenance ▲ strengthening the cyber cooperation of Korea & US Alliance.
