KISTEP hosted the 6th KISTEP Wednesday Forum with a theme of 'Promotion Strategy of Gazelle Type Small & Medium Companies as an Advancement of Creative Economy' in the international conference room of KISTEP on May 28.
This forum was prepared to discuss the strategy which shortens the realization of creative economy through a systematic policy reaction for 'Gazelle type companies' which means the continuously fast growing company with the average growth of 20% or over; and which promotes these companies as a hidden champion of mid size scale company which can function as two leading engines of Korea's economic growth together with large companies.
Junghong Kim, a researcher from KIET (Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade), who presented himself as a theme speaker, said, "While a high quality job creation has been emerged as the core government task, it has been analyzed that the top 10% gazelle companies, which make the most job creation, are creating the excellent jobs not only in quantity but also in quality", and he also emphasized that "In order to promote gazelle companies, the government should carry out the support for the revitalization of venture business as is done in Israel along with the budget breakdown & policy support between both company groups to promote the small & medium companies of over a certain scale into gazelle companies.
Also, it is necessary to prepare measures such as 'Local Gazelle Company Promotion Project' by selecting the cooperative gazelle company group for the promotion objective to promote them into a gazelle company."
