This April 29th, KISTEP held its 120th Wednesday Forum at the KISTEP International Conference Room to discuss national-level strategies for artificial intelligence(AI) development. Under the theme of "How Should We Prepare for the Era of Artificial Intelligence?" the forum was conducted via online with minimal onsite participants as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Kyung-moo Lee, a professor at Seoul National University, gave a presentation. Soon-cheon Byun, Director General of the KISTEP Office of S&T Policy Planning, participated as a chair while Jong-won Kim, dean of the Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, Ye-ha Lee , CEO of BUNA, and Ok-ki Min , Director of ETRI Intelligence Information Research Division, participated as panelist in the panel discussion.

▶ Prof. Kyung-moo Lee presented about the domestic and global trends of AI and proposed strategies for AI development such as educational innovation, improvement of R&D system, and establishment of the ecosystem.



▶ Prof. Jong-won Kim made a proposal during the panel discussion to create an education system for South Korea to train AI professionals.



▶ CEO Ye-ha Lee suggested a direction for implementation of deregulation policies to foster the AI industry.



▶ Director Ok-ki Min proposed ways to innovate R&D and establish the ecosystem.
