The 1st Regular Debate: Technologies that Make Our Lives Change

On July 23 at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP) held the 1st regular debate themed ‘People’s feelings of research outcomes; How can we innovate?’. This debate was aimed to dispel the awareness that S&T and R&D are severed from people’s daily routine, and to discuss the direction of S&T deeply connected to people’s lives. It was streamed online in response to COVID-19. The debate video can watch in MSIT’s Youtube, and its presentation material can be downloaded on KISTEP’s website, and also these links are below.

This debate was composed of 2 sections. The 1st section was opened with Sung-soo Kim (MSIT)’s greeting, and Sang-seon Kim (KISTEP) delivered congratulatory remarks. Se-hong Oh (KISTEP), Tae-hyun Jung (Hanyang University), Cheol-han Kim (Daejeon University) gave a presentation focused on S&T performance diffusion plan in people’s perspective. On 2nd section, Do-yeon Kim (University of Ulsan) hosted the panel discussion with 7 experts in each field and conducted the online question and answer.

The 2nd regular debate themed ‘Infinite Possibility of Bio Technology through CRISPR: Review Technology Assessment’ will be on August 25th and will be streamed online in MSIT’s Youtube channel.
