[The 125th KISTEP Wednesday Forum] The Future of Agriculture with Smart Farm Technology

On September 9th, KISTEP held its 125th KISTEP Wednesday Forum, themed “The Future of Agriculture with Smart Farm Technology”, which leads to the data-based smart agriculture from the experience-based traditional agriculture, to understand the current status of the smart-farm technology and to discuss how establish an industrial ecosystem. This event was streamed online with no audience in response to COVID-19, and its replay is also available in link below.

President Sang-seon Kim(KISTEP) had the opening address, and he said this forum’s significance that the agriculture’s paradigm is changing because of the 4th Industrial Revolution, so now we have to discuss how the government and private sector can cooperate for vitatalizing the smart-farm industry.
▷ President Sang-seon Kim(KISTEP) explained the forum’s significance.
Director Jung-seok Yang(Korea Institute of Science and Technology, KIST) introduced the current status of smart agriculture in domestic and overseas, and suggested the policy for vitalizations of domestic smart-farm industry.
▷ Director Jung-seok Yang(KIST) gave a presentation. He stressed the national R&D role for transition to high technology&data-based agriculture.
Director Gil-woo Lee(KISTEP) hosted the following panel discussion, and Professor In-bok Lee(Seoul National University), Mr. Heun-dong Park(Jinong Corp.), Director Kang-jin Lee(Rural Development Administration), Vice President Sang-yeop Lee(KISTEP) discussed the pending issue and government’s role for promotion of smart-farm industry.
▷ Professor In-bok Lee(Seoul National University) participated the panel discussion. He stressed the importance of big-data and AI technology for actualizing the smart-farm technology.
▷ Mr. Heun-dong Park(Jinong Corp.) participated the panel discussion. He discussed the necessity of discovering the business model(BM) using agricultural data.
▷ Director Kang-jin Lee(Rural Development Administration) participated the panel discussion. He talked about how can elevate the reliability of agricultural date and how can establish the management system.
▷ Vice President Sang-yeop Lee(KISTEP) participated the panel discussion. He stressed the importance of comprehensive data management and countermeasures of information security for the establishment of K-smart farm.
