The 5th KISTEP NIS Policy Colloquium with BISTEP, DISTEP

On November 13th, Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP), Busan Innovation Institute of Industry, S&T Planning (BISTEP), and Daejeon Institute of S&T for Enterprise & People (DISTEP) held the 5th NIS colloquium, themed ‘K-New Deal and Strategy for Sustainable Regional Development’. This event had a skeleton staff to follow the Covid-19 guideline, and it was live streamed on KISTEP’s Youtube channel.

The main speakers are as follow: ▲Director Jang-jae Lee (KISTEP), ▲Director Ho Kim (BISTEP), ▲President Young-joo Ko (DISTEP).
President Sang-seon Kim (KISTEP) explained the meaning of the colloquium, which is mainly focused on diagnosing the current status of National Innovation System(NIS), and also aimed to find a regional strategy for global competitiveness.
President Byeong-jin Kim (BISTEP) expressed gratitude to the participants of colloquium.
Director Yoon-il Kim (Busan Metropolitan City) delivered congratulatory remarks, and emphasized K-New Deal policy’s purpose that it can be a chance to change existing systems.
Director General Jang-jae Lee (KISTEP) gave the 1st presentation, themed ‘Regional Development and Open Environment’. He reviewed the current strategy for balanced regional development, and suggested a new strategy.
Next, Director General Ho Kim (BISTEP) gave the 2nd presentation, themed ‘K-New Deal and Metropolitan-centered Regional Development’. He introduced the current status of Korean New Deal policy and the change of regional policy, and also gave the strategy for creating an open environment.
The speaker of 3rd presentation was President Yeong-joo Ko (DISTEP). His presentation’s topic was ‘Daejeon’s Response to Community-led Innovation Paradigm’, explaining the reason why community-led innovative growth is required, and how to build regional innovation capacity.
