Inauguration of the 10th President of KISTEP, Byung-Seon Jeong

KISTEP welcomed Mr. Byung-Seon Jeong, former 1st Vice Minister of Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) as the 10th president of KISTEP.
KISTEP held a meeting of board of directors (Chairman Min-koo Han) on December 16th and appointed him as the 10th president. Approved by the Minister of Science and ICT (MSIT), President Jeong began his 3-year term from December 23rd.

President Jeong, who passed the 34th Public Administration Examination, has served in major government posts, including R&D Policy Officer (MSIT), President of National Science Museum, 1st Vice Minister of MSIT. He received his bachelor and master degree in economics from Seoul National Univeristy and master degree in S&T policy from University of Suss.ex. His career attests to his long-established expertise in S&T policy planning.
In his inaugural address, President Jeong highlighted, “As a national STI think tank, the role and responsibility of KISTEP have become more important as we are facing critical global challenges.” He added, “KISTEP will continue to contribute to the achievement of national societal missions and advance national innovation system to the next level.”
He suggested 5 major strategies including ① creative and innovative implementation of KISTEP’s mission in accordance with Article 20 of the Framework Act on Science and Technology, ② Enhancement of Satisfaction by strengthening communications channels with policy customers, ③ Strengthening global competitiveness, ④ Successful digtial transformation of organization, ⑤ Coherence of KISTEP’s R&R and core values of employees.
