This research shows conflicting views of Korea-Japan scientists on the difference of two countries’ technologies in nanotech and materials which is drawing attention as the upcoming converging technology.

According to the results of the study conducted by KISTEP on evaluation results between Korea and Japan on technology levels of major national science and technology in nanotech and materials, Korean scientists evaluated that Korean technology level was as lower as 12.6%p than of Japan, while Japanese scientists evaluated that Japanese was as lower as 16.8%p than of Korea.

The research was conducted by KISTEP and JST/CRDS through comparison study on the ‘areas in nano and materials’ (chosen by two organizations) as two countries’ current interest among evaluations of technology levels between major five countries (Korea, America, Japan, China, and EU), which are performed by each organization for every two years.

This was the first time to compare internationally the results of technology level evaluations which were originally performed by collecting professional opinions from Korean scientists.
