KISTEP supports the establishment and coordination of national science and technology policies and plans in order to strengthen the national science and technology capacity.

• Policy planning for Science & Technology
  • Establishing the Basic Plans for National Science and Technology every 5 years, which is the highest standing plan in science and technology operated by all ministries, as well as reviewing annual action plans and their outcomes every year
  • Establishing the Science and Technology Human Resource Development Plan, and the Creative Human Resource Development Plan
  • Establishing the Regional Science and Technology Promotion Plan
• Coordination of Science & Technology Policies
  • Analyzing mid- and long-term plans in science and technology operated by all ministries and performing comprehensive analyses of related issues
  • Providing operational support for Presidential Advisory Council on Science and Technology to address ongoing issues in science and technology
• Providing support for the operations of R&D programs
  • Providing support for legislation and amendment of the laws related to government R&D programs, and improving related systems and relevant measures
