The Korean bio experts said it is time to make the visible industrialization results to advance the future bio economy age following to the information and communication age.  

According to the Bio R&D Policy Issues for the Creative Economy of this Government released on March 7 by KISTEEP, the priority survey to the 77 bio experts showed that they picked expanding the R&D supports to make biotechnology practical and industrial amongst the 14 promotion tasks in the biotechnology nurturing basic plan. It can be said that the results show the interest on the biotechnology is not only limited to the research oriented views but also expanded to creating foods connecting to economy and society.  

According to the report, such a trend moving focus on biotechnology from the basic research results to industrialization appears in the R&D policies of the major advanced countries in common. U.S.A has recently released ‘the National Bio-economy Blueprint’ suggesting the five strategies including to increase R&D supports and to promote industrialization of the research results, and the United Kingdom has designated early industrialization promotion as one of the major issues of the government’s R&D budget assignment.  

Korea is almost the same. 14 tasks of the 140 national government’s tasks of this government (about 10%) are related to the biotechnology R&D, and especially in the growing motivation strengthening to create job opportunities such as nurturing the future growing industries and the aging-friendly industries, it is expected that the biotechnology will play key roles. 

The report suggested to establish ecosystem to industrialize and create job opportunities with the biotechnology R&D policy for the creative economy. Additionally, it emphasized that it is essential to establish the whole cycle management system for integrated management since it is easy to cause the similarities and repetitions in the biotechnology, which is invested by nine departments and authorities.
