The joint session was participated by nine government agencies including the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Small and Medium Business Administration, the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Rural Development Administration and Korea Communications Commission. It was designed to publicize the 2012 government R&D investment directions to the S&T circles and the general public and at the same time to increase the convenience of those who are studying government R&D programs through the format of a joint session ‘coming to the doors of the public.’

In the joint session, National Science & Technology Commission explained major contents and characteristics of the 2012 government R&D budget along with important improvements in the national R&D program management system in connection with the 2012 government R&D program budgets approved by the National Assembly in December last year. The overall explanation was followed by the progress status and future schedules of major R&D programs by each agency’s officials or institutions in charge and an elaboration on new or special programs.
