2012 Asian Research Policy Symposium

This year, national and international eminent persons of innovation policy field including Professor Lee Geun of Seoul University; President of innovation research institute Yonekura Seiichiro of Hitotsubashi University; Dr. Park Jong-won of SRI International attended the symposium to perform presentations on ‘Asian Model of Innovation: Past, Present & Future’.
During the first session, speakers for presentations on the subject consisted of Professor Lee Geun of Seoul University (Asian nations’ driving forces for the pursuit of the economy); President of innovation research institute Seiichiro Yonekura of Hitotsubashi University (Japan’s innovation); Dr. Park Jong-won of SRI International (Trend of international innovation policies and America’s innovation policy).
About 150 researchers and persons of economy and science & technology fields took part in the symposium such as Professor Yeom Jae-ho of Korea University, who is also an Editor-in-Chief of ARP; Editor of ARP, President of CAS/IPM, Mu Rong Ping; Dr. Michael Keenan of OECD; Professor Shigemi Yoneyama of Musashi University in Japan; Professor Park Buhm-soon of KAIST; Director general of the research, Koichi Sumikura of NISTEP; Professor Kim Young-jun of Korea University, etc.
After a special lecture, the award ceremony was held for the winners of KISTEP’s research paper contest on Asian science and technology policies which was performed before the publication of 2012’s 2nd edition of ARP (to be published on September 30), and presentations of those research papers were carried out.
At the last session, presentations on the trend of Korea’s innovation policy were performed by KISTEP’s assistant researchers, An He-rin and Choi Dong-hyuk.
