The 1st KISTEP Creative Economy Forum was Successfully Held

Under the theme of the science and technology policies in the creative economy age’, the 1 KISTEP Creative Economy Forum was successfully held with approximately 300 participants from the industries and scholarships. The event held by KISTEP at the Euljiro Ferrum Tower on March 19 to check the issues concerning to the Korean Creative Economy of this administration and to discuss on establishing the science and technology oriented creation ecosystem.

Lee Jun-seung the chairman said “The creative economy of this government is a knowledge based medium-and long-term national development policy with ‘science and technology’ and ‘human capital’. It is for creation of the new growing motivations and the new job opportunities through operating economy based on imagination, creativeness, and science and technology. Therefore, it is required to plan and promote the realistic and effective strategies to make the core element Science and Technology play its roles and responsibilities.” in the opening speech.
 

 
In the following presentation, a professor of KAIST Lee Min-hwa pointed “In the previous days, action for products was regarded as more important than the creative ideas. But, the creative economy age is going to start with the core element of creativeness. Now, the production or manufacture is possible only with ideas thanks to outsourcing. According to these new currency, we should strive to think and find ‘the technologies making other technologies’.”

The second speech, Yu Hwan-ik the division head of the Federation of Korean Industries said “To realize the creative economy, it is essential to improve such rules hindering the rapid and quick reorganizations of companies and to make the political environment extending incentives on R&D investment.” during his speech under the theme of ‘the Creative Economy the Company Sees’. The last speech, Cha Du-won the director of policy planning of KISTEP analyzed evolution process of the creative economy been developed led by the United Kingdom and the United Nations since late 1990’s and the policy cases of the major countries and suggested some methods to make the Korean science and technology creative ecosystem.
