KISTEP held the public hearing on the 4th Basic Plan for Fostering and Supporting Women in Science, Engineering, and Technology

On January 18 (Fri), KISTEP held the public hearing on ‘The 4th Basic Plan for Fostering and Supporting Women in Science, Engineering, and Technology (’19-’23)’ at the Auditorium of the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST).

The event was organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), hosted by the Korea Center for Women in Science, Engineering, and Technology (WISET), and attended about 100 people, including the public, women's science and technology organizations, and experts of industry, academia and research institutes to gather the opinions of them on the 4th Basic Plan for Fostering and Supporting Women in Science, Engineering, and Technology (2019-2023).

The public hearing began with words of greeting from the president Sang-seon Kim and Direct General Hyuk Chae Koo (Science, ICT & Future HR Policy Bereau, MSIT) and led the announcement of the 4th Basic Plan for Fostering and Supporting Women in Science, Engineering by director Jung-Jae Lee (Center for HRST Policy, KISTEP). Panel discussion were led by the president Wha-Jin Han (WISET) and led by BK research associate Youn-tae Kim (Yonsei University), senior researcher Hee-yeon Kim (Korea Institute of Energy Research), research fellow Ka Yeul Park (Korea Employment Information Service), professor Eun Jeong Park (Kyung Hee University), and professor Hyun Joo Park (Chosun University).

The 4th Basic Plan for Fostering and Supporting Women in Science, Engineering, and Technology ('19-'23) aims to establish a mid-to long-term vision of policies for women in science, engineering, and technology based on Article 4 of the Act on Fostering and Supporting Women Scientists and Technicians, as it is necessary to establish the 4th Basic Plan about women in capacity building and promotion of S&T for the next 5 years with the end of the 3rd Basic Plan for Fostering and Supporting of Women in Science, Engineering and Technology ('14-'18).
