KISTEP held the board hanging ceremony of the Working Group for the Integration of Project Support System for integrating systems of project support and researcher information of 20 institutes designated by Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT). Director General for S&T Innovation Gyu-taek Oh (Science, Technology and Innovation Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT), President Sang-seon Kim (KISTEP) and other heads of research management institutes at each ministry attended the ceremony on January 24th (Thur).

Project support system is an information system that collects, processes and analyzes the information on government R&D projects and supports research administration tasks such as planning, selection, agreement, evaluation, and performance management. Researcher information system is a system that registers and manages government R&D researchers that include their research history, evaluation committees, and information of performing organizations.

The integration of project support systems and researchers information systems from 20 professional organizations for the management of government R&D projects is aimed at resolving issues of each institutes having their own system and complicated administration procedures, which puts more pressure on researchers and disturbs their research concentration.

Working Group for the Integration of Project Support System consists of officials dispatched from each ministry’s specialized institutes. A total of 9 members participate including 3 from KISTEP, 1 from the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement (KAIA), 2 from the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT), 1 from the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA) and 1 from the Small Business Technology Information Agency, and 1 from the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP).

Building the Integrated research funds management system is scheduled to be completed in first half of this year. Project support system and researcher information system will be blueprinted in 2019, established in 2020, and its pilot operation is scheduled in 2021.
