[The 122nd KISTEP Wednesday Forum] Future with Autonomous Driving and Role of Government

On June 10th, KISTEP held its 122nd KISTEP Wednesday Forum, themed "Future with Autonomous Driving and Role of Government" at the KISTEP International Conference Room to discuss future changes resultant to the development of self-driving technologies and to prepare effective cooperation measures between the public and the private sector in the process of technological innovation.
President Sang-Seon Kim of KISTEP, remarked in his opening speech, "Given that the autonomous driving technology exceeded the level 3 and perfected to level 5 and self-driving vehicles becoming commonplace, the advent of car sharing economy and accident-free transit systems will become a reality." He continued to emphasize the purpose of the forum, "It is time to gather wisdom from both public and the private sector for Korea to become a leading country in self-driving by accomplishing the world's first commercialization in 2027."
The forum was conducted via online with minimal onsite participants as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Its video is available in link below.

Professor Gu-min Jeong of Kookmin University gave a presentation. It was followed by a panel discussion led by Director Ji-ho Hwang of Office of R&D Budget and Feasibility Analysis of KISTEP, and joined by Professor Ki-choon Cho of Konkuk University, Director Jae-kwan Lee of the KATECH and Jae-hoon Jeong, Professional of LG Electronics.
