Dr. Young-Chang Joo, Vice Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, visited KISTEP on July 5 (Tuesday) to discuss S&T policy issues and future plans related to major tasks of KISTEP.

KISTEP reported on the progress of major tasks for each division in the presence of the officials from the Science, Technology and Innovation Division, Byung-Seon Jeong, President of KISTEP, and key executives of the KISTEP. In the following discussion, the main issues related to the Science, Technology and Innovation Division were discussed, such as establishing the 5th Basic Science and Technology Plan, fostering national strategic technology, and strengthening the strategic nature of R&D investment.

At this meeting, Vice Minister Joo said, “In the era of technological hegemony, national and social innovation policies focusing on S&T are necessary for Korea to become a technological sovereign nation. As a national S&T policy research institute, we ask for much support from KISTEP in promoting major policies of Science, Technology and Innovation Division, such as fostering national strategic technologies, promoting private-led R&D, and strengthening the strategic nature of R&D investment.”
