KISTEP was designated as a National Strategic Technology Policy Center by the Ministry of Science and ICT on February 26, 2024.

The National Strategic Technology Policy Center aims to efficiently carry out the establishment and coordination of the policies in accordance with Article 10 (Designation and Operation of National Strategic Technology Policy Support Agencies) of the “Special Act on National Strategic Technology Promotion”, and is designated by the Minister of MSIT.

KISTEP has been designated as the National Strategic Technology Policy Center to (1) support research and analysis of the current status of domestic and international technology and industrial policy cases in the field of national strategic technology, (2) support work related to the selection, change, and deselection of national strategic technologies, (3) support for establishment, implementation inspection and analysis of basic plans, (4) support for exchanges between domestic and international organizations related to national strategic technologies, public-private cooperation and international cooperation, etc., and (5) support for establishing, promoting and coordinating national strategic technology policies, etc.
