President Jeong said, “The paradigm of competition for hegemony is changing from military and economy to technology-centered. We are facing an era of great transformation such as digital transformation and demographic change. In the past, the S&T policy has been focusing on R&D investment to support economic growth. However, it is now necessary to shift the directions to enhancing the safety and quality of life of the people and addressing societal issues.” He also stressed, “As the impact of science and technology on the economy, industry, and society as a whole increases, it is important to expand the boundaries in terms of the policy.”

Next, he introduced the keywords of the 'KISTEP Think 2022 15 S&T Innovation Policy Agenda' as following: the five S&T powerhouses leading Pax Technica, realization of a healthy and safe society for everyone, the leap forward as a digital economy leader in the digital earth era, innovation of the system for nurturing and utilizing S&T talents in an era of population decline, and advancement of the innovation system in the age of 100 trillion national R&D, and he also suggested 15 agendas and policy tasks.
