The Ministry of Science and ICT and KISTEP held the “2023 National Research and Development Performance Evaluation Forum” at the Daejeon Convention Center on Thursday, December 14.

This forum was designed to look at the goals and performance of each ministry and project according to the results of the 5th national R&D performance evaluation and to discuss improvements in policy and project implementation. In addition, it was established to find future-oriented development directions for the performance evaluation system in the changing national R&D environment in response to national challenges.

The forum began with an opening speech by Yu-sik Kim, Director of the Performance Evaluation Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Science and ICT, and a welcoming speech by KISTEP President Byung-Seon Jeong. Starting with a presentation by Seung-su Jun, Director of the Office of National R&D Coordination & Evaluation at KISTEP, presentations continued by Young-jin Choi, head of the National Research Division of the National Research Foundation, Jong-chan Jang, head of the Innovation Growth Division of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Planning and Evaluation, and Hyeon-cheol Kim, head of the Research Development and Innovation Division of the Korea Health Industry Development Institute.

In the panel discussion chaired by Jun-mo Kim, professor of public administration at Konkuk University, participants including Young-eun Kim, head of the Performance Evaluation Policy Division of the Ministry of Science and ICT, Seung-su Jun, Director of the Office of National R&D Coordination & Evaluation at KISTEP, Young-jin Choi, head of the National Research Division of the National Research Foundation, Jong-chan Jang of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Planning and Evaluation's Innovation Growth Division, Hyun-cheol Kim, director of the Research Development and Innovation Division of the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, and Young-hee Jeong, professor of the Department of Life Science and Technology at Chonnam National University, had an in-depth discussion on national R&D performance evaluation from an industry-academia-research perspective.
